These toys will give you just that. Each one of these magical toys can and will keep your child occupied for at least an hour… maybe longer. So you can keep an eye on them from your beach chair where you hopefully have a drink in your hand.
The List
I’ve organized this list in terms of how many hours of relaxation you can get in exchange for the toy in order of most hours to least hours. Savvy mamas will be strategic in planning when to introduce each toy on their beach vacation.
Beach Aquarium
This will provide all of your children, and most likely the entire family, hours of delight. Don’t let your kids catch critters in a plastic bucket, get them this simple, yet genius, tool to get up close to whatever ends up in it! Time and again this is a favorite beach toy of my boys- no matter how old they are!

Spikeball
This fun game is a combination of volleyball and four-square. It’s super fun at the beach, because of the sand and the water and the vibes. It’s a value because you can use it anywhere- camping, backyard birthday parties, tailgating, in between soccer or baseball games. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Foxtail Sport
A throwback to the 90s! This is your perfect excuse to turn on some Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys, and introduce some old fashioned fun to the kiddos. The ball comes with a set of rules, but to jog your memory… you throw and catch this bad boy by the tail. If you catch it by the color that is closest to the ball, you get the most points. The nice thing about playing this in the sand, you can keep a tally of points with a stick.

Metal Detector
The age range on this popular beach toy is probably 2-99. The amazing thing about a metal detector at the beach, or even in the backyard, is that you will end up with hours to relax. Bonus: it’s made just for kids, so it’s quite a bit more sturdy than grandpa’s.

Remote Control Boat
Next best thing to owning an actual speed boat? Investing in a couple remote control speed boats that your kids can race. You don’t even need to pay to store them over the winter!

Hydro Lacrosse
Similar to the waterproof football, this one is good, simple fun. They can play it in the water or on the shore. They can even use the net to scoop critters out of the water, which I bet the Hydro Lacrosse people weren’t even thinking about when they made this product.

Waterproof Football
It’s all about the simple things. Why this football? All three of my boys have confirmed that it is way easier to grip, and thus to catch. It’s a toy that never gets old.

Surfminton
This is basically like beach pickleball. If the grandparents are along for the trip, I guarantee that one of them is either in a pickleball league or has a friend who is in a pickleball league. This provides a great opportunity for the kids to play with their grandparents! The benefits of playing in the sand? It’s soft, in case you need to dive for a ball.

Bucket Ball
This has a 4.8 rating on Amazon from 1500 people. If you don’t believe me, believe the masses, this game is fun for the whole fam. And it works just as well in the backyard as it does on the beach.

They really do skip on the water. And they are cute! Just like the football, a simple, classic toy that never gets old with a special water-skipping magic touch.
