Michigan is more than a place to visit. It’s a place worth getting to know.
Michigan Family Travel is a digital travel magazine for families who want to explore the Great Lakes State a little more deeply. We share the places worth planning a trip around, the people and businesses that make them special, and the stories you might miss if you’re only checking things off a list.
From small towns and Great Lakes beaches to unexpected detours, family traditions, restaurants, festivals, outdoor adventures, and weekends away, our goal is simple: to help families experience more of Michigan together.

Meet Steffy
Hello. I’m Steffy McCourt, a mom, teacher, writer, and the editor of Michigan Family Travel.
My family hasn’t always lived in Michigan, but I’m so glad we do now. Exploring this state started as my way of getting to know our home better. Luckily, my husband and three sons have been good sports about coming along for the ride. They’re usually up for another road trip, and they don’t usually mind being in the pictures.
What began as a family travel blog has grown along with us. Today, Michigan Family Travel brings together destination guides, personal stories, practical advice, photography, and perspectives from writers and experts across the state.
Our quarterly magazine takes that storytelling even further. Each issue is built around a seasonal theme and gives us room to slow down, dig deeper, and tell a fuller story about the places, people, and experiences that make Michigan worth exploring.
