Pasty Fest 2025 in Calumet
A Unique Michigan Festival Rooted in Tradition
Pasty Fest is one of the most unique Michigan summer festivals, blending Upper Peninsula history and hearty cuisine with playful medieval flair. The celebration kicks off on Friday evening, August 15, at Eva’s Hideaway with the Pasty Song Competition, where musicians gather to honor the pasty in song—expect everything from ballads to modern tunes, all paying tribute to this beloved meat pie.

Saturday: The Heart of Pasty Fest 2025
On Saturday, August 16, the festival takes over downtown Calumet’s 5th Street with a medieval street fair. The atmosphere will include artisan vendors, jousting vibes, and an All-Ages Medieval Fighting Arena, where attendees can safely channel their inner knight using foam swords.
Visitors can witness authentic demonstrations by the Hancock-Houghton Regional Rattan Armored Combat group, showcasing medieval skills like sword fighting and blacksmithing.
The highlight of Saturday’s schedule is the ever-popular Pasty Eating Contest at 3:30 p.m.—a carb-fueled competition that draws a crowd every year. Earlier that day, at 1 p.m., Visit Keweenaw will host the Pasty Pull, inviting festivalgoers to test their strength by pulling an oversized vehicle down the street for a cash prize.
