When the skies opened up on a recent Saturday, my two sons and I found ourselves searching for something that could beat both boredom and the weather. Enter Best in Games (B.I.G.)—an indoor, three-level amusement center in Ypsilanti, Michigan that delivers more than just a few hours of fun. It’s a full-blown adventure for families, teens, and yes—even couples on date night.

Three Floors of Action-Packed Fun
Located at 4095 Carpenter Road, B.I.G. is more than just an arcade. With go-karts, mini golf, bumper cars, adventure courses, laser tag, and more, it’s basically a playground for all ages.
We started at the top floor, where we strapped into go-karts for a high-speed race. My youngest son surprised us all by coming in third out of 12 racers—he even passed me! The course was fast, fun, and had just the right amount of curves to keep things competitive.
From there, we headed to the second floor for Selfie-Putt Putt, which is just as ridiculous and entertaining as it sounds. Bright colors, photo ops, and themed holes made it a goofy but delightful stop. Just next door is the Sugar Sugar Bar, which—despite the name—is not a candy bar. That did lead to a bit of confusion for the boys who were expecting Snickers, but they quickly recovered when they were handed a neon golf ball and a putter.
We wrapped up on the main level, packed with arcade games ranging from retro favorites to the latest in high-tech play. Despite the crowds, the space never felt overwhelming. We stayed for two hours and could’ve easily gone longer if we weren’t totally wiped out.

A Place Worth Returning To
Even after two hours of go-karts, putt-putt, and arcade action, there was still so much we didn’t do. In fact, B.I.G. is home to a Guinness World Record-holding laser tag arena—they hosted the longest game of laser tag ever recorded. We didn’t get a chance to try it this time, but it’s at the top of our list for our next visit. (Not the record part, just the laser tag.)
Other attractions we’re planning to hit include:
- Axe throwing
- Plate smashing (yes, really)
- Football golf
- Bumper cars
- A ninja warrior course
- Tsunami slide
- Pixel floor
- Drop tower
- Duckpin bowling
It’s basically a checklist of childhood (and grown-up) dreams.

Fuel Up at Rocko’s Bar and Grill
Amid all the action, we took a break to eat at Rocko’s, B.I.G.’s in-house restaurant. The fried breadsticks with marinara and ranch were dangerously good. Service was quick—ideal when you’re just trying to grab a bite before the next round of activities.
We spotted two birthday parties while we were there, and B.I.G. does not play around when it comes to celebrations. Think: fluorescent signage, staff singing, and over-the-top ice cream cone cakes complete with firecracker sparkles. My middle son—whose birthday is next month—immediately said, “I’m totally having my party here.”

Perfect for Date Night, Too
Though we went as a family, I couldn’t help but notice the number of couples out on dates. Both the second and third floors feature full-service bars—The Sugar Sugar Bar and The Pit Bar—and many date night duos were enjoying drinks between rounds of duckpin bowling, axe throwing, or football golf. With dim lighting, lounge seating, and a more relaxed vibe, those upper levels have a totally different feel that works for adult nights out.

Plan Your Visit to B.I.G. Ypsilanti
Whether it’s a rainy afternoon with the kids, a birthday celebration, or a night out with your partner, Best in Games in Ypsilanti is a solid pick for fun and connection. With enough attractions to keep families, teens, and adults coming back for more, it’s easy to see why this place has quickly become a favorite.
