Flyleaf Defined: More Than a Blank Page
The name “Flyleaf” holds special meaning. In publishing, a flyleaf is the blank page at the beginning or end of a book, helping to bind and protect it. At Flyleaf, the concept is symbolic—bringing people and ideas together in a space that strengthens connections, much like the pages of a book.

Where Stories Are Served Daily
From walnut shelving and elegant light fixtures to fireside seating, Flyleaf offers an inviting, come-as-you-are environment. Whether dressed up or in casual clothes, guests feel at home. The bookshop and bistro balance sophistication with approachability, making it easy to sit, sip, and stay awhile.
Laptops are welcome until 11 a.m., but after that, it’s time to unplug and savor lunch service. Guests can browse books, relax, and enjoy an unhurried dining experience in a welcoming setting.

Books & Bites
Ascending to the second floor, visitors find more fiction-filled shelves, fireplaces, and a Reading Room that can be reserved for up to 12 people—perfect for book clubs, study sessions, or intimate gatherings.

Flyleaf’s menu is carefully curated to complement its literary ambiance. During my visit, I sampled the chef’s board with artisan cheese and charcuterie, a panzanella salad, and house-cut fries with garlic aioli, spicy ketchup, and truffle aioli. Each dish was flavorful, beautifully plated, and enhanced by attentive, friendly service that elevated the experience even more.

Cocktails & Classics
The rooftop terrace, open seasonally from spring through fall, provides another inviting space to read, dine, and connect. With views of Grosse Pointe Farms, it’s an ideal place to sip a cocktail while enjoying fresh air and conversation.
Flyleaf’s bar offers “Literary Libations” and house favorites that pair perfectly with your latest read. During my visit, I opted for the Lavender Lift mocktail, though other standouts include the Queen of Hearts and the Flyleaf Espresso Martini. Happy hour (5–6 p.m.) and “Happiest Hour” (9–10 p.m.) specials run Tuesday through Friday, making it easy to plan an evening around books and beverages.

A Destination for “Shelf Care”
Flyleaf is more than just a bookshop, bistro, or bar—it’s all three wrapped into one unforgettable experience. Whether you come for coffee, cocktails, or conversation, Flyleaf offers the perfect retreat for readers and non-readers alike.
Take time for some “shelf care” and enjoy the pages, plates, and pours that make this Grosse Pointe destination a true literary escape.
